On Thursday morning...we had a much needed break. No meetings, forms to fill out, or places to be. And it's a good thing, because Maya has been running a bit of a fever. Even after 10 hours of sleep, she ended up taking a 2 hour nap in the morning and then sleeping for a bit on the bus-ride to Luoyang, which is where we landed yesterday afternoon. The pace here is much less hectic and we will have alot of down time to just play and explore the city a bit. We got to the hotel around 4:30pm ... had some dinner and then it was bedtime. I finally caught up on some sleep last night and hopefully Maya is feeling much better today. Here is a photo of our "walker" - she's getting there.....

Here is a series of "just missed the full smile photos"

And finally....the tongue and those gorgeous eyes! Everyone comments on her eyes...the hotel workers, particularly!

We are working on her walking....she does not seem able to go from sitting to standing on her own, and still wants to hold onto me with both hands while walking. Last night, though, she started walking "around" the bed while holding on to it. She did this spontaneously, which was a suprise to me....so far, she's been a pretty limp baby...she would just sit wherever I put her, and not really assist me with things like putting on her shirt or pants. Yesterday, she began to help out a bit more and is taking more initiative with moving around. I'll probably be chasing her down the hall in NO time!

Michelle it is like she has been yours forever...
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
She is BEAUTIFUL. I betcha she'll be walking by the time she gets home!
HOME, what a great word, huh?
I absolutely love the teeth! When you get home, she and Charlotte can have a smiling duel.
(We would like to see a picture or some words from Grandpa. Haven't seen him since the Great Wall and are wondering what became of him.)
Steph
Yeah...thanks for the photos! I was going crazy waiting for them...like you have nothing better to do right :) Maya looks like she is getting happier by the day...no surprise with such a great mamma! Her eyes are very gorgeous. I hope she feels better soon!

M&M,
So glad I'm finally in the loop!! I've been thinking of you both almost every minute and checking the wrong website multiple times a day in the hopes of some news. Here you've been a wonderful narrator this whole time!
Michelle, Maya is so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. Her fantastic smile (tongue picture) those cute teeth and those deep, gorgeous eyes. My goodness, it just takes my breath away. Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us. We can't wait to see her in person.
That posting about you and Maya playing in bed at 4 am really got to me. Isn't it GREAT?!!! You are right that no one can tell you what it's really like until you experience that "motherly love" thing. It really is amazing. You are already a fabulous mom, and it only gets BETTER!!!!!
Sorry this is so long, but I have a lot of days to make up for. Love you both and have Bill post something soon so we know he's there.
Love and prayers and thoughts and all good stuff coming your way. Keep writing and sending pictures. We can't get enough on this end!
Hi Michelle and Maya. We're still reading your story every night before bed. It counts as a bedtime story, right? Can't wait to read the next chapter.

Hi Michelle!
Seems as though things are going par for the course! Wonderful! Takes me back only a year and a quarter ago....waking up to see those amazing beautiful eyes looking at me and topped off with a smile. My heart melted again as you told your amazing journey with Maya.
More words escape me to express how awesome it is to read your story and know that it is happening for real--and we can finally moms together! Yay!
Can't wait to see ya!
